What is Laminated Toughened Glass?
Laminated toughened safety glass combines the benefits of toughened and laminated glass, making it an exceptionally strong and safe material. This type of glass consists of two toughened glass panes bonded together with an interlayer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) film. Toughened glass offers enhanced impact resistance and is up to five times stronger than standard annealed glas. In the unlikely event of breakage, the glass shatters into small, blunt fragments, significantly reducing the risk of injury. Thanks to its laminated structure, the glass fragments remain adhered to the interlayer, preventing the glass from breaking into dangerous shards.
Applications
Laminated toughened safety glass is the ideal choice for environments where safety, durability and performance are essential. It is widely used in architectural façades, balustrades and railings, glass floors and walkways, interior glass doors and partitions and high-end residential and commercial projects. Beyond its structural advantages, the laminated construction also offers excellent acoustic insulation, helping to reduce noise transmission and create more comfortable interior spaces.
